About

My name is Elyse and I have a strong connection to my heritages from both sides of my family. However, the Hispanic side of my family is extremely socially/politically active, fighting for the rights of women and Hispanics. Because of this, I volunteer constantly (having done so since I was very young) for Buenestar Family Services and Latina safe house. Many of the individuals who I have illustrated commissions of paintings, portraits, and other creative works for are now large fans. Throughout my college career, I have placed a lot of care into my studies and have had my name appear on the president and dean’s honors lists multiple times.

Artist Statement

My work completely revolves around stories. Tales that I spin as I work or that I have imagined are the breath of my art. I focus on stories of the human condition, adventure and fantasy, as well as stories that present simple and meaningful connections to build through minimal dialogue. There is a desire for me to bring stories to life and to share them; I accomplish this through my art. This passion has driven me to exploring new ways to express powerful moods and intriguing plots while keeping the experience meaningful and fun. My hobbies include playing guitar, composing music, writing stories, and thirsting for knowledge. It is a joy to incorporate different materials like this into my art to tell a deeper story.
